Mary (May) Cooney (née Reilly)

Formerly of Moylough, Co. Galway

In the early hours of Thursday, 1st October 2026, Mary died peacefully surrounded by her family and in the wonderful care of the staff at Galway University Hospital.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Tom, parents Patrick and Mary and her brothers Patrick and John.

Deeply mourned and very sadly missed by her loving family; daughter Antoinette and son Declan, son-in-law Pat and her three adored grandchildren Jamie, Brian and Emma. Fondly remembered and sadly missed also by her sister Bridie and brother Michael, nieces, nephews, the extended Cooney and Reilly family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Sunday, 4th Oct : Mary will repose at her home at 13 John Coogan Park, Newcastle, Galway (H91 R8PX) from 4pm - 7pm.

Monday, 5th Oct : Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Mary on arrival at the Sacred Heart Church, Seamus Quirke Road, at 11am. Following Mass, she will be laid to rest with her beloved Thomas in Carrowrowe Cemetery, Williamstown.
