Mary (Mary Rose) Purcell (née Tuohy)

Formerly of Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon.

Mary passed away peacefully at the Galway Hospice in the early hours of Thursday 10th September. After a long illness borne with dignity, she slipped away in the comforting presence of her adoring husband, Gerry. A loving mother to daughters Michelle and Niamh, and devoted grandmother to Freya. A cherished sister to Brid, Margaret, Martin, Michael and Sean. Predeceased by her beloved brothers Hughie, Pat and Malachy and by her parents Malachy and Bridget (Budge).

She will be forever loved and deeply missed also by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

She will be remembered for

her vibrant spirit, her deep devotion to bringing people together,

and the generosity she extended to everyone she met.

May she rest in peace.

Arrangements

Monday 14th September 2026

Mary will repose at home in Dr. Mannix Road, Salthill, from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30pm.

Tuesday 15th September 2026

Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Mary on arrival at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill at 11 a.m. Following Mass, Mary will be laid to rest in Rahoon Cemetery. Link for Mass Here
