Martin Joe (Matt) Costello

It is with deep sadness that Martin Joe’s family share the news of his death with you following a short illness bravely borne at Galway University Hospital on Tuesday evening, 6th October 2026. He passed away peacefully in the exceptional care of the staff of ICU with his dearly loved family by his side. Predeceased by his beloved parents Martin and Mary Kate and infant sister. Matt is mourned by his wife Olivia and son Cian, mother-in-law Pat Earls (Oranmore), brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, the extended Earls, Costello and Connolly families, neighbours and many friends.

I heard the stories of great men who sailed the seven seas

And I learned the lore of an ancient folk and their love for the Nazarene

Friday, 9th October 2026

Martin Joe will lie in Repose at the ‘Cillín ‘within the Church of Mary Immaculate Queen, Barna H91 A2T7 (Teampall Mhuire Banríon gan Smál) from 5.00 p.m. Removal into the Church at 6.30 p.m. followed by Requiem Mass therein at 7 p.m. approximately.

A Committal Service will take place for Matt at Shannon Crematorium at 2 p.m. You are welcome to attend. Live stream password to follow.
