Originally of the Black Forest, Germany

Elfriede died peacefully on Saturday, 2nd May, 2026 under the care of the staff of St. Enda’s Ward, Galway University Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Jerome. Missed by her two sons Darran and Desmond and daughter Doina, daughter-in-law Lily and grandchildren Dorian, Skya and Roman.

She chased the sunrise, embraced the wind,

and found peace in the steady rhythm of her stride.

May her spirit now run free,

on paths where the air is always fresh

and the horizon never fades.

Funeral Arrangements

Wednesday, 6th May 2026

Elfriede will lie in Repose at the Church of the Holy Family, Funeral Parlour, Mervue, Galway (H91FH52) from 5 p.m. with Removal at 6:30 p.m. to the adjoining Church. Entrance to the funeral parlour is through the Main Church Door and the exit is at car park level where you will find wheel chair access.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Elfriede at 11 am. Live-streaming link for the Mass is available: Here Following Mass, she will be laid to rest with Jerome in the New Cemetery, Bohermore.
