Donal O’Flaherty

Formerly of Claddagh Galway

It is with deep sadness that Donal’s family share the news of his sudden and unexpected death at home on Tuesday, 6th October 2026. Despite the great efforts made by the emergency services, Donal’s time had come to leave us, and he died peacefully with his heartbroken family by his side.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Marian and by his sister Mairéad and parents Johnny and Nora. Deeply loved and mourned by his son John and daughter Lorraine, son-in-law Dave and by his much-loved granddaughter Gwyneth whom he adored. He was a gentle man who will always be fondly remembered by the O’Flaherty and Murphy relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements:

Sunday, 11th October 2026

Donal will lie in Repose at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91V1K8) from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. There will not be a Removal to the Church on Sunday evening.

Monday, 12th October 2026

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Donal at 11 a.m. on arrival at St. Mary’s Church, The Claddagh. Following Mass, he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Marian in Rahoon cemetery.
