Donal (Donie) Sexton

Donie enjoyed 87 happy years before he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved wife Mary and dearly loved children Elaine, Martin, Donal and Gerard in St Patrick's Ward, University Hospital Galway on Friday 15th May 2026.

Predeceased by his parents John and Eileen, brother Tom, beloved sister Mary and brother-in-law Peter Murphy, grandniece Katie Murphy, sister-in-law Ann Cannon and by his infant daughter Elaine-Olivia.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife and adoring children, daughters-in-law Orla and Siobhán, son-in-law Eduardo, grandchildren Salvador, Carolina, Charlie, Lucy, Isobel and Henry, by his only niece Maria, nephews Joe, Paul and Peter Murphy, godson Killian Murphy, many family and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Tuesday 19th May 2026

Donie will lie in Repose at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91 V1K8) from 5.00 p.m. Removal at 6.30 p.m. to the Augustinian Church. Eircode H91 W6H3

Wednesday, 20th May 2026

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Donie at the Augustinian Church H91 W6H3 at the "Mass of Our Lady of Good Counsel" at 11.00 a.m. and following Mass, he will be laid to rest with his loved ones in the new cemetery, Bohemore. Live streaming is not available in this Church.

Parking Information

Please approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr. Burke Park.

Street parking may be available on Fr. Griffin Road, within the Claddagh, on Henry Street, Sea Road, The Crescent and Dr. Colohan Road.

Car Parks within walking distance of the parlour: The Claddagh Church, Spanish Arch and Mill Street which is adjacent to the Garda Station.

There is limited space for the immediate members of Donie’s family within the grounds of the funeral parlour. Some space is reserved for guests with mobility needs.
