Formerly of Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo and Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.
Derek died very peacefully at home after a tough illness, which he fought without complaint in the wonderful, loving care of his adoring family.
Predeceased by his first wife Mary (née Geraghty), Swinford, and his nephew Tony Manson, Dublin.
Dearly beloved husband of Maeve (née Kenehan) and much-loved father of his twin girls Ashling and Ivana, Eleanor, Derek Jnr. Redmond, and Ruth. Derek will always be fondly remembered by his brothers Emmett and Neil and sisters Jeanette and Brenda, grandson Connor, son-in-law James, brothers-in-law Ed, Doug and Padraig, sisters-in-law Marie and Cora, and nephews and nieces Corrine, Laura, Graeme and Emily.
He will be sadly missed by his great friends, in particular Brian McGranaghan, Mary, Damian, Brendan, Roy, Tom, Martin, Jim, his Garda colleagues, his wide circle of golfing friends and also by he extended Geraghty family.

Funeral Arrangements
Sunday, 10th May 2026
Derek will lie in Repose at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91V1K8) from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Private cremation to follow.
Parking Information
Please approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr. Burke Park.
Street parking may be available on Fr. Griffin Road, within the Claddagh, on Henry Street, Sea Road, The Crescent and Dr. Colohan Road.
Car Parks within walking distance of the parlour: The Claddagh Church, Spanish Arch and Mill Street which is adjacent to the Garda Station.
There is limited space for the immediate members of Derek's family within the grounds of the funeral parlour. Some space is reserved for guests with mobility needs.
